Talking At Me presents Barefoot Bruiz
Friday November 11 at the Notting Hill Arts Club
7pm-2am, free before 8pm, £6 before 11pm, £8 after

Rita Maia and Coby1 welcome
Lefto
Alex Patchwork &
Franck Alfier

T.A.M. is back as usual on the second friday of the month.
For November's T.A.M. session, we've invited the Barefoot Bruiz collective for a joint event.

Barefoot Bruiz showcase the some of the most interesting parts of the electronic music scene from around the world with DJ, Broadcaster and producer Lefto (Dour Festival), Alex Patchwork (Brownswood Recordings), and Franck Alfier, one of the organisers of the Worldwide Festival.

Lefto has steadily made a name for himself worldwide, playing radio shows, festivals and rocking the decks in almost every European capital and cities beyond from to Tokyo and LA.
He is responsible for the Hip Hop/Jazzy/Funk... stage at the Dour festival www.dourfestival.be/en/ and plays annually at Gilles Peterson's Worldwide Festival.
After performing with our own Rita Maia at the festival this year, we had to bring him back to the Arts Club for a joint session behind the decks together with one of the festival organizers, Franck Alfier.

Lefto is known for his diverse sets which jump around to reggae, breaks, dubstep, deep house, drum ´n´ bass, broken beats or some wild bossa-fire, all of which blended by his ultratight mixing techniques, firmly rooted in energetic hip hop skills.
You can hear his show on Belgium's Stubru radio here (www.stubru.be/programmas/lefto)

Besides being a prolific DJ and producer, Alex Patchwork is one of the staff behind Brownswood Recordings, assisting label boss Gilles Peterson and responsible for compiling Brownswood Electr*c (featuring Pearson Sound, George Fitzgerald and Mount Kimbie).
He's also the Label and A&R co-ordinator for Earnest Endeavours, a producer & remixer as Cabin Bwoy and one third of Patchwork Pirates.
www.gillespetersonworldwide.com/brownswood-recordings

To complete the night Franck Alfier, one of the main organizers behind the Worldwide Festival, joins us once again to bring us fresh sounds from around the planet. The festival in the south of France is known for its brilliant line-up and showcase of global artists in their unique setting. www.worldwidefestival.com

We've very much looking forward to having this month's line up of guests joining regulars Coby 1 and Rita Maia to share the DJ booth at what's shaping to be a very special Movember session! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also check this month's mix by Rita Maia as she is the latest DJ to be invited to record a session for the mix series by FACT PT mag. www.factmag.com/pt/2011/10/12/fact-pt-mix-039-rita-maia

Or head onto Resonance FM to hear her Saturday night electronic music show Sine Of The Times. London 104.4 FM. www.sineofthetimes.net/

LIVE: My Panda Shall Fly

This month we're super excited to announce the return of Phil Asher as we welcome him back to the arts club ones and twos - its gonna be a very special night indeed! Regulars will have fond memories of his residency at Inspiration Information alongside Patrick Forge - it was one of the longest running nights at the club and one of the most loved and respected nights in London. A real gent, a house music legend, a pioneer of broken beat and founding member of Restless Soul and the influential Co-Op club night - Phil is a true connoisseur of quality underground club music and when he plays he'll take you on a mind-blowing, body moving journey through boogie and disco treasures, house classics, cutting edge beats and deep tech grooves. You do not want to miss this!

www.restlesssoul.co.uk

My Panda Shall Fly will also be joining us to present his new live show. The impressively hirsute Suren Seneviratne is a Sri-Lankan born visual artist and producer who has been making quite a name for himself of late. The blogosphere has been singing his praises after a string of incredible remixes for the likes of Pirate Sound System ("Dub N U") and Hyperdub's Terror Danjah and off the back of this has come dj spots on Rinse FM and across the UK and Europe, including the Outlook Festival in Croatia. His expansive sound takes in dubby basslines, warm pads, complex electronica and synth lines tied together by garage and dubstep influenced beats. His debut EP "Sorry I Took So Long" is out now on Dam Mantle's Growing Records.

Talking At Me is back for it's regular session on the second Friday of each month.
Rita Maia and Coby 1 will be at the controls once again until 2 am with their voyage into the past, present and future of underground dance music, together with this month's guests.

This month's guest DJ is Tic from XL / Young Turks Label, responsible for releasing what are considered by many, some of the most exciting underground electronic music records of the past year.
SBTRKT, Gil Scott Heron and Jamie XX, Bullion, Sampha and Jessie Ware are just some of names in their extensive catalogue.
After playing with our resident Rita Maia at Gilles Peterson Worldwide festival last month, Tic steps up to T.A.M's controls for a promising session.

Ink Project are a London-based electronic/alternative/sou?l duo consisting of vocalist/producer Melanie Dymond and producer/keyboardist Jez Lloyd. Since joining forces they have taken the project live throughout the UK and Europe – showcasing their distinctive sound at the Jazz ReFound Festival in Italy, The Sonar Festival in Barcelona, The Dogstar in Brixton, The Big Chill Bar in Kings X, and Cargo in Shoreditch amongst other venues. First single 'Call On Me' was released in June 2010 and after being premiered on Radio 1, has been playlisted by the UK's leading dubstep DJ's. The duo's much anticipated debut album is expected to drop later in the year after preview track 'Eye Of Glass' was picked up and played by Giles Peterson on his Radio 1 show in May. There is a very big buzz around this act right now so be sure to keep an eye on them and catch them live!

South London duo Disclosure have recently been winning fans throughout the music press such as Pitchfork, NME, XLR8R, Loud and Quiet, Altered Zones and RCRD LBL. Guy and Howard Lawrence made their debut in 2010 with the ‘Offline Dexterity’ release on the Moshi Moshi singles club and since then the brothers, aged 16 and 19, have been holed up in their home studio writing, recording and producing 'Carnival' / "I Love That You Know' - their latest release and one which exemplifies their attention to detail and skill in composing intricate 2-step garage rhythms and dubstep basslines.

Friday June 10 at the Notting Hill Arts Club
7pm-2am, free before 8pm, £6 before 11pm, £8 after

live: Circle Traps
decks: resident DJ special with Rita Maia and Coby1
Talking At Me is back for it's regular session on the second Friday of each month, but this time everything kicks off early...
A live performance by the incredibly talented and forward-thinking Mercury Prize-nominated musicians of Circle Traps will be the focus of this night, a show not to be missed.

T.A.M. is also introducing a food and film session on the first part of their night, to kick start a nourished and inspired weekend.
For the late-night ravers, Rita Maia and Coby 1 will spread their spell on the dance floor until 2 am with their voyage into the past, present and future of underground dance music (whether you call it future garage or ghetto tropical, post-dubstep or UK funky, it's all Talking At Me...)

Circle Traps
Circle Traps is a collaboration between Jack Wyllie, Duncan Bellamy and Will Ward.
The group, of whom Duncan Bellamy and Jack Wyllie are also members of Mercury-nominated jazz group Portico Quartet, released their first full EP this month through Subeena's Opit Records, which is already a best seller at the online shop Boomkat Records.
Circle Traps - Fjord

"Lovingly constructed with a keen ear for detail throughout, it features 'Fjord' alongside three new tracks, ranging from the furiously-sampled instrumentation of 'Bo! Symbol!' to the moody sub-bass of 'Mirrors and Monuments'. While their music offers parallels with the twinkling melodies of your Four Tets and Pantha du Princes, they're already swiftly creating a sound of their own." FACT magazine.

"Wiring their own instrumental skills on drums, saxophone, bass, flute, keys and guitar to samplers, and buoyed by a love of everything from minimalism to jungle, from Joy Division to world music, Circle Traps have arrived at a sound that marries the brittle romantic textures of Bjork's 'Vespertine' and the glacial atmospherics of Thomas Köner to more fluid jazz-like explorations of rhythm." Jonny Mugwump (http://exoticpylon.com)

Circle Traps on Facebook: www.facebook.com/pages/Circle-Traps/117420934989028

Coby 1 and Rita Maia have each been residents at the Notting Hill Arts Club at YoYo and Ovni Sessions respectively, and have joined forces to bring you a night with the best of forward-thinking underground electronic music.

Rita Maia is also a resident at BBC Club and hosts the Saturday night show 'Sine Of The Times' on the award-winning Resonance FM. You can listen to it here
She has recently recorded a mini-mix for Gilles Petterson Worldwide festival, where she'll be performing in July. It's available here

Talking At Me DJ's Rita Maia and Coby 1 invite Son Of Kick, MC Bang On! and Franck Alfier for another west london basement session.

Son Of Kick (Muti Music, WayWay Records) & Bang On!
Producer, DJ, and multi instrumentalist Son Of Kick is making waves with his bumping, super-charged live set. A bass-feast packed full of electro, Dubstep, heavy grooves and the insanely unpredictable.
Catch him dropping acapella’s from Method Man or rocking snippets from the Violent Femmes alongside his own productions. On a playing field of his own right now, it was friend and vocalist RQM that recently coined his new style, ‘Psychostep’.
Based in London, S.O.K.’s sound & style has already been picked up by various labels including the Stanton Warrior’s own Beat’s and pioneering London imprint Botchit and Scarper. Remix credits include work for labels such as Man Recordings (Germany), ESL Music (Washington DC), Civil Music (UK), and Om Records (San Francisco).
His most recent EP "Playing the Villain" has been well received and sees remixes by Machine Drum and others.

One of the most exciting artists Big Dada has signed recently is the Liverpool bred Bang On. A born MC, Elliott Egerton's delivery effortlessly moves between funny and furious, as he spins yarns and nails metaphors that make rap sound like a good idea again. Combined with raw, bass-hefty production that could make a bleeding-edge dubstepper weep, he's set to be a force to be reckoned with in the coming year.

Franck Alfier, one of the curators of the Gilles Peterson World Wide Festival, is responsible for finding what are considered to be some of the most interesting and forward thinking acts from across the planet, keeping up the festival's reputation. At T.A.M. he will be presenting a dj set to represent his view on what's happening across the globe without genre or any other barriers and we're looking forward to hearing it!

http://www.worldwidefestival.com/

You can hear Rita Maia every saturday night presenting the electronic music show Sine Of The Times on the critically acclaimed Resonance FM, London 104.4 or online, with weekly guests, chats, live sessions and forthcoming music.

After last month's session with guests Ben Westbeech, Funkineven and Throwing Snow, the Talking At Me Easter Special presents more great acts from across the new electronic music and bass beats spectrum (whether you call it future garage or ghetto tropical, post-dubstep or basement house, dancehall or UK funky, it's all Talking At Me...).

Our bank holiday weekend party starter will be Raf Daddy - one half of exciting new DJ and production partnership The 2 Bears, alongside Hot Chip's Joe Goddard. From stints running Basement Jaxx and Matthew Herbert's record labels to a radio show for Ministry of Sound, Raf is much in demand as a DJ. It's not hard to see why as he can play house, tech and nu disco for the connoisseurs, drop the latest in bass-heavy club music from funky though to garage and dubstep or just deliver classic block party vibes. Either way, make sure you don't miss this one as it's gonna go off!!
Birmingham-based Troumaca are a live band formed by elements of much loved Scarlet Harlots. Coming back to T.A.M. for their debut gig in London and being known for their energetic sets, we're very excited to have the first showcase of these talented musicians and their challenging music.
Snow Ghosts is a stirring collaboration between the hotly-tipped Throwing Snow and the recently-formed, London-based ensemble, Augustus Ghost, with a balance between Hannah Cartwright's haunting, folksy vocals and Throwing Snow's electronic sounds, with a moodiness appreciated by dubstep and experimental electronica fans.
Their recently-released EP 'Lost At Sea' EP (Black Acre), was described by music on Boomkat as 'sounding something like the dreamchild of Clubroot, Björk and Various Production".
Rita Maia is a founder of Badmood, a collective championing new bass-driven music in Portugal. Based in London she hosts the Saturday night electronic music show, 'Sine of the Times', on the critically-renowned Resonance FM, playing bass-heavy music from all around.

Talking At Me is back this Friday 8 April at the Notting Hill Arts Club!
Guest DJs Alex Phountzi (Greenmoney) and Elgato (Hessle Audio) join residents Rita Maia and Coby1.
After last month's big session with guests Ben Westbeech, Funkineven and Throwing Snow, T.A.M. is back and keeps bringing us great acts across the new electronic music.

Elgato has been DJing, putting on events and hosting radio shows for many years as part of the Bruk collective. He made his debut as a producer late last year on the much-loved Hessle Audio, with the 12" receiving great feedback and support across dance scenes, considered a major success as a debut single. While we await his new material, we had to get Elgato to come for a DJ set at TAM. Check his debut single below and see him in action behind the decks via his video at the Boiler Room...

Alex Phountzi (Greenmoney)
Alex Phountzi is known for being part of Bugz In The Attic and, more recently, Greenmoney, alongside Leo Greenslade of yOyO fame. Out of a shared love of black music they hit the studio in 2008 and have since then combined their talents to remix artists such as Kanye West album vocalist Kid Cudi, Yo Majesty, Jamaica's Terry Lynn and Busy Signal, and Detroit's Amp Fiddler and now bring their Greenmoney flava weekly to http://brooklynradio.net/greenmoney where the boys are best known for joining the dots between house, hip hop, drum 'n' bass and dubstep.

Talking At Me resident DJs Rita Maia (BadMood Collective, Portugal) and Coby1 (YoYo) deliver the finest filtered dance breaks in a sweaty work-out.

Rita Maia is a founder DJ of Badmood, a collective championing new bass-driven music in Portugal. She is based in London and hosts the Saturday night show, 'Sine of the Times', on the critically-renowned Resonance FM, covering new electronic music, focussing on new UK sounds with weekly mixes, interviews and live sessions, playing bass-heavy music from all around.

Talking At Me is back at the Notting Hill Arts Club this Friday 11 March!

Producer and vocalist Ben Westbeech is refreshingly hard to pin down. His acclaimed debut album in 2007 mixed soul, jazz, drum 'n' bass, and breakbeats. He made one of the finest cutting-edge club tracks of last year - 'Fatherless', released under his Breach alias - and he's currently busy putting the finishing touches to a new LP for the legendary house label Strictly Rhythm. His new single, 'Fallin' is out now and the album, 'There's More To Life Than This', is set for release in April featuring an all-star cast of collaborators including Henrik Schwarz, Soul Clap, MJ Cole, Cosmin TRG and Motor City Drum Ensemble... As if that wasn't enough, he's also a seriously good DJ!

Funkineven has been blowing up over the past year. A real connoisseur of club music he always digs that bit deeper with a sound that references acid house, Detroit techno, '90s garage and beyond, fusing it all with his own unique style. Currently signed to Alex Nut and Floating Point's Eglo label his latest twelve, 'Heartpound', made it into Bleep's top 100 of 2010 and his DJ services are heavily in demand.

Throwing Snow has been receiving great reviews for his releases on labels such as Alex Nut's Ho Tep. His productions may be considered difficult to label - a sort of broken dubstep with more psyched-out textures and heavy bass lines - but 2010 was a particularly good year with the release of the widely-acclaimed Gold Panda's remix of 'Snow and Taxis' and his most recent single, 'Align' on Super Recordings. Listen out for his most recent project, Snow Ghost, on the Black Acre label.
